A cultural and Sami world heritage center would support a sustainable tourism regarding film festivals and stage for traditional joikers and singers. It would fully enhance the harmonization of the traditional Sami world and the contemporary world while promoting the Sami people, their language and culture stretch across national borders. The program of the building itself would include a bookstore, which is much needed in Guovdageaidnu, joik-archives, put up exhibitions, dance classes and an optimal room for concerts/art performances. Additionally, the gained free space after the demolition of the current primary and secondary school would be transformed into large area for outdoor activities, playgrounds for the children, a park where people can relax, a spot for campfires or lavvu-tent or turf hut to enter. Eventually, these could become an attractive area where many people can gather without an excuse or an event. The move to a more circular economy is helping people cope with a new reality and prepare for a more resilient sustainable future. The transformation of the existing high school into affordable housing and co-working space would prepare the conditions for future growth of Guovdageaidnu while maintaining a sustainable approach towards built environment. These are small but economically feasible interventions with large impact for the future.
